VU Features
Voices Underground is a storytelling and education platform dedicated to amplifying the shared histories of the Underground Railroad. Through short-form media, educational series, and public programming, we spotlight the people, places, and networks that shaped freedom movements—particularly in Pennsylvania and surrounding regions.
Our work bridges history and the present by creating spaces for dialogue, learning, and community connection. Voices Underground has hosted initiatives such as Dine & Discuss, fostering meaningful conversations with Lincoln University students; an intimate Secret Supper with Voices Underground board members; and a Holiday Meet & Greet welcoming local families in Southern Chester County. We have also curated Juneteenth programming at Lincoln University and Longwood Gardens.
Voices Underground has been featured in publications including West Chester Neighbors and the Chester County Press, reflecting our growing impact and commitment to community-centered storytelling. By making the past accessible and relevant, we invite audiences to engage with history as a living legacy that continues to shape our collective future.
